6:00 pm - Lecture at Palazzo Falson, Mdina
A lecture on the Musical and Liturgical perspective of the Tenebrae - the Divine Office for the Holy Week delivered by choir master Alex Vella Gregory and Fr Charlo Camilleri O.Carm at Palazzo Falson.
7:30 pm - Tenebrae Celebration at the Carmelite Priory Church, Mdina
The lecture will be followed by the Tenebrae celebration at the Carmelite Priory with the participation of Cappella Sanctae Catharinae, Malta's only all-male choir. The liturgy combines plainchant psalmody, readings and polyphonic responsories all framed within the ritual extinguishing of candles. The church is plunged into darkness leaving only one candle lit, symbolising the hope brought by Christ's Resurrection.
Booking is necessary only for the public lecture at Palazzo Falson which will be followed by the liturgy celebration at the Carmelite Priory, open for the public.
