Our second workshop from the Crafting Clay series will focus on the experimentation of head sculpting!
Led by Francesca Balzan, renowned sculptor, art historian, and curator whose practice merges archival research, materiality, and portraiture, who will demonstrate her clay head–making process following which participants will then have the unique opportunity to create their own clay head under her guidance. The workshop also includes a short tour of Palazzo Falson, focusing on heads and busts. While the sculptures will not be fired, participants are welcome to take them home to air-dry.

Meet Francesca Balzan, renowned sculptor, art historian, curator, author and guest artist for our upcoming clay workshop from the Crafting Clay series. Her sculptures have been exhibited widely and her practice brings together archival research, materiality, and portraiture to create narratives which are whimsical and often humorous.
Join us on 16th May for a unique opportunity designed for participants aged 16+ where you’ll gain insight into Francesca’s creative process and be guided in creating your own head sculpture.
